CEP is a school management organization that operates three campuses of Chicago International Charter School (CICS), CICS Ralph Ellison High School, CICS Northtown Academy High School, and CICS Wrightwood Elementary School. CEP aims to provide its teams and students with an exceptional experience rooted in high expectations for student achievement and civic responsibility.Reports To: Chief Schools OfficerPosition Summary:Civitas Education Partners (CEP) is seeking a Director of Post-Secondary Outcomes to lead the ongoing improvement of our network's performance. The Director of Post-Secondary Outcomes is the primary force behind programs and interventions designed to prepare our students to be productively engaged in college and career after high school, and is responsible for leading and managing the work we do to achieve that goal. The Director of Post-Secondary Outcomes ensures that elementary and high school programming equips students to excel after graduation, that families are prepared to support students through the high school and college admissions processes, and that schools generate remarkable outcomes with respect to preparing for and achieving goals pertaining to post-secondary outcomes. The Director works with both network and school-level teams, as well as students, parents, community organizations, colleges and universities, and other stakeholders to build, evaluate, and revise programs that support continued progress and achievement after elementary and high school.

The Director of Post-Secondary Outcomes will report to the Chief Schools Officer, will serve as a member of the network executive team, and will partner with school-level leadership and student services teams to carry out the responsibilities of the role. The Director of Post-Secondary Outcomes will also work with students and families. Travel to all campuses and the downtown office is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Drive desired school-level outcomes with respect to implementation of post-secondary programming.

  • Set priorities and metrics for each school based on the network's mission, strategic goals, and school needs.
  • Assist schools with program development and implementation to support desired secondary and post-secondary outcomes.
  • Check in regularly to gauge progress and provide feedback to school leadership teams.
  • Create and manage resources and tools that will allow managers to lead effectively and efficiently (SCOIR, Overgrad, Naviance).
  • Equip school teams with timely data and action plans.
  • Provide professional development to school-level teams to improve execution of post-secondary programming.
  • Report regularly to principals and the network team schools' current levels of performance and progress toward post-secondary goals.
  • Participate on collaborative teams to share and learn best practices, with a focus on promoting equity and inclusion.
  • Manage school-level priorities as determined by principals.
  • Build capacity of school-level teams to build and troubleshoot the master schedule and PowerSchool tasks related to scheduling students.
  • Develop Spring and Summer protocols for school leadership teams to follow in order to prepare for, build, and troubleshoot master scheduling, academic programming, and registration.
  • Partner with Chief of Staff, Chief Schools Officer or other network team member on special initiatives.

Support Families through Post-Secondary Planning

  • Host quarterly parent meetings regarding the postsecondary and financial planning processes, high school preparation, or other topic as determined by need or parent interest.
  • Collaborate with principals to host SAT/NWEA/IAR growth parent meetings.
  • Develop a system to track ongoing student-level college and career touchpoints.
  • Set, communicate, and invest CEP community around college touchpoint goals.
  • Codify a post-secondary playbook for elementary and high schools to use when implementing and managing the post-secondary program for both elementary and high schools.

Provide direct service to students on all campuses.

  • Maintain small caseload of students on each campus to ensure connectivity to on campus happenings, support improved post-secondary achievement, and promote equity across schools.
  • Create and support organizational tools to streamline registration process for Dual Enrollment/Credit.
  • Communicate regularly with all students and families about community events and opportunities.
  • Partner with local organizations to recruit students for enrichment programs.
  • Organize regular college representative visits.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Strong Technical Skills: Intermediate to advanced level experience with Excel/Google Sheets and other applications needed to fulfill professional obligations. Ability to acquire new technical skills quickly.

Driven by data: Collects, organizes, analyzes, and synthesizes data to identify opportunities and target actions to meet a goal.

Professional Knowledge: Master post-secondary specific resources and tools, financial aid processes, college and career application processes and nuances, key opportunities and deadlines, and school partnerships.

Credentials:The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of successful school-based experience as a school counselor, college counselor, assistant principal, or other role that yielded substantial experience with post-secondary program planning and implementation.
  • A minimum of 3 years of successful leadership experience, at a school or district level;
  • Intermediate to advanced PowerSchool experience and skill, implemented, preferably, at a network or district level.
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in data collection, tracking, and manipulation.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Google and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Sheets and Excel.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • An advanced degree (required) in Education (preferred).
